About The Maltese Breed
The Maltese is a friendly and outgoing breed, but can be timid with strangers. They are adaptable to apartment living due to their low exercise needs, making them a great fit for city dwellers. They are intelligent and trainable, but can be stubborn at times, requiring patient and consistent training. Maltese dogs are prone to tear staining and require regular cleaning to prevent discoloration. Generally, they are a healthy breed, but can be prone to health issues like hypoglycemia, dental problems, and luxating patellas. They are suitable for families with older children who understand how to handle them gently, and make great companions for those who are willing to provide the necessary care and attention. With proper care, Maltese dogs can live up to 12-15 years or more. They also require regular grooming to prevent matting and tangling of their beautiful, silky coats. Overall, the Maltese is a loving and affectionate breed that can bring joy and companionship to many families.
